This is an amazing rod that's light, strong, durable, and its rated payload range is spot on. With Tommy's casting technique tutelage, this CPS Gen2 rod and an Akios 651 reel, I've been able to extend my typical old school thump casting of 60 yards to over 100 yards. No question that long distance casting is mainly all about proper technique, but having well mated and balanced rod, reel and line, suited to the payload needed to get launched, all makes a huge difference in casting distance.
